We were wandering the alleys of Chinatown recently, as one does, and discovered a sidewalk-widening in progress on Wentworth Street. The alley, already pretty narrow, will be reduced to one lane of traffic with extra room for pedestrians. The metered spaces, we’re going to assume, will be gone for good. It wasn’t long ago that the Chinatown Economic Development Group was lamenting the neighborhood’s difficult parking, and the loss of a couple spaces probably won’t help. On the other hand, adding more strolling-around space could induce more customers to wander through.
